Preparing for a New Season at Miðhraun
Preparing for a New Season at Miðhraun
After a short and gentle winter with almost no snow, we are now preparing for the upcoming summer season. Bookings are coming in steadily, and our calendar is already beginning to fill up. We can feel that spring is just around the corner.
The months ahead will bring many wonderful events to Miðhraun, including weddings, confirmation celebrations, family reunions, choir gatherings, and other special occasions. Our restaurant Hlaðan and the bar will also be open to everyone — both staying guests and visitors passing through the area.
Spring is always a magical time here. Nature slowly awakens from its winter rest, fresh greenery begins to appear, and birds return with their song. Toward the end of April, the lambing season begins on the farm — always a special and lively time of year as the first little lambs arrive.
It is also the time when our fantastic summer staff begin to return, full of energy and excitement for the season ahead. Last week we welcomed back Dominika and Dawid, who worked with us last year, along with Justína who has been part of our team for several years. More of our summer staff will gradually arrive as we move closer to summer.
This year also marks a special milestone for us, as our restaurant Hlaðan is now open all year round for the first time. Our wonderful chef Ársæll, together with his wife Anna, has been running the restaurant beautifully and delighting our guests with their excellent food and warm hospitality. Our second chef has also returned from his winter holiday and is currently helping with another project within the company. When the high season begins, he will return to the kitchen team.
At Miðhraun, we always enjoy creating a welcoming atmosphere and bringing new ideas to life. We have several exciting plans in the works, and we look forward to sharing more with you as the season unfolds.
